Now that some sunnier weather is finally with us, we hope you’ll be enjoying some nice days out
with family and friends. We’re all used to giving the house a spring clean, but don’t forget to give
your car the once over to get it back looking its best. Osborne Motors in Dunfermline can be trusted
to make sure your car is running smoothly and reliably, but here are some of our top tips for making
your car shine with things you probably have lying around in the house already:
Get your paintbrush out
There are so many little nooks and crannies in a car that gather dust, from the air vents to the sides
of the seats. Keep a supply of different sized paintbrushes or makeup brushes to get into the gaps
and get rid of the dust quickly and easily.
Toothpaste
Get your headlights sparkling with a little toothpaste on a damp cloth, it’ll bring them up an absolute
treat and smells nicer than abrasive cleaning products.
Cake cases
Line your cup holders with some cupcake/muffin cases that will gather any dirt but are easy to
remove. Paper cases can be put in the bin and replaced, or use silicon ones that can washed and
reused.
Squeegee
If you have pets in the car it can be a big job to keep the upholstery clear of pet hair. Mist the seats
with plain water in a spray bottle, then run a window cleaning squeegee over the surface to pull the
pet hair along with it.
Olive Oil
Use a little olive oil on a cloth to rub over your dashboard to restore the salesroom shine to your
interior!
Home-made air freshener
Use a wooden clothes peg and add a few drops of your favourite essential oil scent. Clip it onto the
air vent in your car and you can have a different scent as often as you like.
